A question that bounced from sales to business management to support or PM for up to two weeks, now one search that answers in seconds.
The work
When we phased out a product, sales often didn't know what to offer instead. The question went from sales to business management to support or a PM. At least two days when everyone answered on time, up to two weeks near a launch, about xx times a month. The replacement data existed, but it was inconsistent across three sources, written by different people using different criteria.

What I did
- 01Agreed the rules with PM and sales, like pricier vs cheaper replacement.
- 02Wrote a Python script that generated one file from the three sources, picking each product's replacement by those rules.
- 03Put the answers into our product information system and live in Salesforce.
Results
- 8xx products mapped
- Up to two weeks → seconds
- My team kept using it
